South Gate Brewing Company introduces “1864 ale”

Sierra Star October 4, 2013

The South Gate Brewing Company is holding a release party on Saturday Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. to show off a new beer that marks the 150th Anniversary of the signing of the Yosemite Grant.

The new beer helps mark the milestone of President Lincoln signing the Yosemite Grant that set aside Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove for preservation.

The event will include a guest appearance by a President Lincoln impersonator, live music by guitar player Warren Cox, Oktoberfest-style dinner specials by Chef Dawn Pliche, 1864 logo t-shirts & steins giveaways, plus a grand prize drawing for a two night stay in a cabin at The Redwoods in Yosemite.

Also for sale at the event will be the 1864 logo t-shirts designed by local artist Courtney Lynn and commemorative steins.

The community is invited to join in the festivities and help introduce what people are calling one of Brewmaster Rick Boucke’s finest additions.
